Clinical Consultation and Supervision

Service Description

I am able to provide Clinical Supervision as well as Clinical Case Consultation for Members of BCACC, CRPO, and OAMHP. A Clinical Supervision relationship exists to provide a Supervisee with support, the opportunity for reflection, and direction or suggestion (depending upon the roles defined), with the goal of promoting your professional growth, discuss the direction of therapy, and safeguard the well-being of the client. The distinction between Supervision and Consultation is with respect to responsibility for the client, as follows: With respect to Supervision, the client of the Supervisee is considered to be a client of the Clinical Supervisor. This may be required for Student or Qualifying Members of a licensing body such as the BCACC or CRPO. The Clinical Supervisor assumes ethical and legal responsibility for, accountability for, and review of the actions and services of the Supervisee . The client must be informed of the role of the Supervisor and have the opportunity to contact the Supervisor with any concerns. With respect to Consultation, in contrast, the Supervisor is explicitly not taking fiduciary responsibility for the care of the client. Consultation may be either ad hoc and informal or regularly scheduled and formal. In either case, a written agreement is required to confirm that the Supervisee retains responsibility for the care of the client.
